Latch misaligned
"The quality of the assembly (can’t speak to durability yet) seems to be questionable. The latch is completely misaligned."
Engel is proud to announce it has added an exciting new model to its range of portable fridge-freezers, the MT45 Platinum Series. This model is the new 45 quart fridge-freezer, with added features and fan. This new model also includes the user friendly digital control with LED display, as featured in the Australian 50th Anniversary model, along with built in battery monitor. We have designed this new model in the industry standard Engel 45 cabinet to ensure its compatibility with the current range of MT45 accessories. Supplied with both cords, the 12 volt cord that plugs straight into your vehicle's adapter socket and the 120 volt lead with three pin house plug. Auto switching as standard removes the need for the user to switch power sources manually. All Engel fridge-freezers feature the Engel "Swing Motor" Compressor. Highly efficient, it typically draws around 1 to 2 Amps per hour (check the specs below), about 40% less than a traditional compressor. Engel fridge/freezers run on battery power, 12/24V DC, or 110/120V AC. So whether you're on the road, on the water or safe at home, you can use your Engel to make life a little easier.

"This is a great refrigeration unit for our new CAMANO troll trawler. This unit uses very little energy and is a supplement to the small refrigerator that came with the trawler. We have used three other ENGEL coolers over the years on three different boats. This is a new model with a built in digital temperature gauge. This is a real plus. Just dial in the temperature that you want and its done. We love it and the "Admiral" and cook wouldn't be without it."
"Bought it for our sailboat we now live on - as we only have a fridge on board We love it and it uses less solar power than we anticipated Q: We received a rectangular pad with it and not sure what it is for?"
"Good quality freezer. Love the cover too."
"Works great as the one I bought five years ago ,You can't go wrong with Engel"
"Great freezer keeps my food frozen. Quiet unit and built solid"
"My new MT45 has the same great build quality and performance as the one I bought and used continuosly since 2007. It spent its life in an unheated/cooled garage or in the back of my trucks with toppers. Guess I’ll need a new one in 2042. These are built like refrigerators used to be."
"This is my fourth Engel cooler - but my first of the Platinum Series MT45s. All of the ones I have owned have been flawless and done their job efficiently and without fail. This particular version is a huge step up from the first one I bought about 25 years ago: the temp readout, and the interior light are huge upgrades - and all the things I loved about the original are still there. I use my primarily as a freezer and for that it's outstanding. Don't hesitate to purchase one of these coolers."
"MT-45 model. I’ve owned it about three years and it’s been in constant service since that time. So straight to the punch. It cools well and uses a very small amount of battery life. In this respect I have no complaints. The complaints are with the thermostat and the refrigerator tub itself. Thermostat first. The temperature indication is less than accurate. As a refrigerator set to 36°F I regularly get ice accumulation in the bottom of the tub. And now the tub. There is no drain plug feature on this model. If you’re in a tropical or even semitropical climate with typical humidity, every time you open the lid you’re introducing excess moisture to the refrigerator tub. Over a couple weeks this results in a pool of water accumulating in the bottom. A drain plug would’ve been an obvious inclusion. Instead, one has to empty the tub by either pumping it out or use a bath towel or a bunch of paper towels to accomplish the same thing. The extreme solution is turning the unit on its side, remembering of course that it weighs about 60 pounds. This MT-45 will probably last awhile because it’s obviously well made, if not well designed. A better idea is building an EPS foam box and using a cold plate refrigeration system. May not be as efficient (hot topic) but at least you’ll be able to integrate condensation protection into your box. Engel certainly isn’t doing it."
"Seems very well put together - I got it because the Engels are so power efficient. Only complaint is that the inner protective wire cage gives an uneven bottom so that your beer bottles fall over unless the cooler is full."
