Description

When power and space allow, consider an Engel MT-series fridge-freezer. Every Engel fridge-freezer is capable of keeping contents fresh - or frozen - wherever you roam. Freeze food to last you on long trips, or set the temperature control to keep fresh food and drinks chilled. All Engel fridge-freezers feature the Engel "Swing Motor" Compressor. Highly efficient, it typically draws around 1 to 2 Amps per hour (check the specs for each individual model), about 40% less than a traditional compressor. Engel fridge/freezers run on battery power, 12/24V DC, or 110/120V AC. So whether you're on the road, on the water, or safe at home, you can use your Engel to make life a little easier.

have my eye on this but my old one won't die

"I have two Engels, a 30 quart I bought in 1996 and a 50 quart I bought in 97. They have run continuously, in the Az desert climate, either in a Land Cruiser or in the shop since I've owned them. They just never die. I would really like a reason to get another but I just don't know where I'd put it"

    MT 60 fridge/ freezer

"I purchased my MT60 through Engel at their headquarters in Florida and paid top dollar a few months ago October/November 2021.The fridge/freezer worked great at keeping the food cold and frozen. The down side are the razor sharp hinges which will cut your fingers if your not careful. The lid would also wobble back and forth. I used this fridge on my month long trip to Baja and placed it on a level piece of plywood with straps to keep it from sliding around. There was a constant knocking inside the fridge when driving on slightly uneven terrain becoming quite annoying, I am guessing this is the swing compressor from what other owners have said. Engel definitely needs to upgrade this model/fridge with new hinges and a more secure lid, seems like this model has not changed in 20 years but could use some upgrades ,especially with their high prices. Not sure if they can remedy the compressor knocking around? Some kind of refund would be nice after paying close to $2000 dollars. Definitely not top of the line as Engel claims. Not completely satisfied…"

    Review of the MT60 - 64 Quart fridge/freezer unit.

"In December 2021 I made my first trip with the MT60. It was a three-week trip from the Buffalo NY area to Florida in my camper van. For years I had been using a regular plastic cooler with blocks of ice to start then buying 20-pound bags of ice every other day after the ice blocks melted. What a relief not to be hassled with that. This unit worked fabulously the whole trip and I am very happy with. I took out one of the wire baskets and replaced it with a two-part plastic storage insert from an old cooler. This makes things easier to find. My van has two deep cycle batteries with a power inverter to run things while I'm traveling or parked overnight somewhere. The MT60 barely puts a dent in that power supply. In the Florida campgrounds I used their shore power. A word to the wise however, it works so well that if I set the power dial above 1.5 so items would ice up. I subtracted one star for two minor reasons. 1)The lid latches quite frankly are wimpy. For $1,500+ I would expect something sturdier. 2) I would like to see some kind of clear plastic cover over the temp dial. It could be inadvertently moved slightly when working around the unit. This could cause a freeze up on some items. Neither of these are a deal breaker, just small changes that I would like to see. I love this unit, it's a great improvement to my camper and I do recommend it."

    1st weekend had a BD

"1st weekend had a BD party for granddaughter. Keep ice cream frozen. Yah. Hooked up in camper van and worked great. I will need to get used to the temperature control. Froze some of the water the 1st day. Thanks for a good product."

    Q&A

I have no operating light on my MT60F-U1. It was working perfectly this morning. Could this be the power supply unit? Can it be repaired/replaced in Canada?
