"Great cooler. Keeps everything cold. The ONLY complaint I have is that when using the bottle opener you have to tilt the drink up and it causes it to spill. Other bottle openers make you tilt the drink down the take the top of and that would be better for the cooler. But great cooler"
"I looked at coolers for over 2 months starting in June. I wanted a more high efficiency cooler for camping that would retain ice longer. I viewed several evaluations videos on various brand comparisons. I was surprised to learn of the Engel brand. I saw ice retention tests that showed this a leader and bragged about 7 day retention. So I set my goals on getting a Engel cooler. The Engel 50 with a backet and divider seemed great for how we organize our camping cooler, I then looked for a deal, after 2 months including 4th of July, no deals came up. Exception I did get a $10 discount for being a new customer. The purchase went smoothly with the delivery done well packed on reasonable time. The basket and divider came separately a few days later. Not sure why they couldn't have been inserted in the cooler and shipped to save some time and shipping cost. Not my cost since shipping was free, but a little more loss to the ability to keep costs down. so my first thoughts are a bit lower than expected for two reasons. 1. This one is minor but did set me back a bit. Engel advertises using the latch as a bottle opener. So I tried this first off with a 12 ounce bottle of beer. Weird, the latch seems to get in the way of holding the bottle at an angle to engage the top. With a little pressure against the latch I was able to engage the bottle top and open it. the latch has to be open and you need some technique in getting the bottle close enough to open. yes works in an emergency. 2. The next first impression is more disappointing. I loaded a drawer full of ice in the cooler like I would do with my cheep previous cooler. Next morning completely melted. Ok, not correct way to ice the cooler. So I the emptied the now some what cooler, added 4 4lb blocks of ice and 10 pounds of cubes. I put a thermocouple wire to measure temp. After day 1, 34 degrees, day 2 37 degrees, day 3 39 degrees. day 4 49 degrees, day 5 60 degrees and everything was melted. This was done in my kitchen. So I am skeptical how this would go 10 days, 7 days or even 5 days. I'm not a professional and did not compare to my old cooler, that I added ice every day. I hope that my first impressions become better as I learn how to make this work for me. It is a nice looking and well sized cooler, fits my hatch back nicely. I consider the price high at over $300 with accessories, but this is less than comparable brands."

"These are GREAT coolers, we have another expensive cooler brand in the boat, these Engel coolers are better. They keep stuff cold, ice lasts longer, and the basket has enough depth to be useful. We have just returned from 21 days running around Bahamas with these coolers and they just worked better than the others in the boat. I'm converted, the extra depth is great, the thicker lid and lid seal are better. We kept meat frozen solid for over 5 days then added some ice and kept it at fridge temps for the rest of the trip. The height is another great feature, the cooler takes up less floor space while being at a great height to use as a seat. Overall a huge win, glad to find this upgrade."
"Even though the ordering process was erroneous (ordered white 50 hard cooler, received 13 blue dry box) the folks at Engels were great to deal with. Unfortunately they didn’t have the white in stock but suggested the coastal white instead. It was a perfect match to my hull so everything worked out great. They expedited the replacement and had the wrong cooler picked up. Added the Engels rod holders to the cooler and mounted on my bow deck. It makes a great seat, platform, and awesome cooler!"

"i own 3 of Engle coolers and have been happy with them until my latch just fell off (and it almost always just sits on my back seat when i fish away) it has 2 screws that fell out and instead of sending me 2 screws and i can fix it myself they want me to pay for a whole latch. First disappointed this happened but things do, i should not have to buy a new one. Its 2 years old and warranted for one."
