"We are very happy with our engles, yes we have 2 in our tiny1988 #SLACKERvan. The SR70 is very efficient using about 1.2 ah average over a 24 hour period. The side opening door is more convenient for daily living, you can’t pack it tight but you can access your food and drinks without a lot of rearranging. The SR70F has also helped up well to the vibration, angles and abuse of off-road life. Tips and tricks, be sure to use rubber any where the fridge touches the vehicle. This will reduce the vibration of the compressor. Set up a vent fan that can push air out of the mounting space or pull it in. When use the heat of the compressor to warm the inside of the vehicle in fall and we pull the warm air out in the summer. Mount the unit high so it is easy to access food at eye level and you don’t need to move stuff off the floor to open the door. We will do this in our next build. This is a great unit to make your mobile space feel and work like home."

"I chose the SR70 because of the power draw: 0.5 – 2.7 amp @ 12/24VDC. I’m using my chassis battery as a house battery. My van has factory installed dual HD AGM batteries, a 230 Amp alternator, a programmable battery guard & 4 upfitter switches. The second consideration, which I strongly recommend, is the SR70 fits in a standard cutout used in 18 wheel trucks. If it needs to be replaced, there are many options that can be installed without rebuilding the cabinets. Third item, which relates to first paragraph, is the Sawafuji swing motor compressor. It’s a purpose-built motor designed for maximum efficiency. It was a new word for me; an internet search gave me detailed info and made the purchase decision clear. Fourth, which also relates to first paragraph, it’s solar compatible. If the day comes when I need to supplement power, the frig is ready as is. Fifth, simple time-proven electronic controls: On-Off, Temp Control & Light, that’s it. Call me old fashion, but I do not see the need to view the refrigerator data on my cell phone, and the programmable battery guard built into my van already monitors battery voltage. Sixth, 3 Year Warranty. Seventh, all interactions I had with the people at Engel were great. I had a technical question the CSR was unable to answer, and I was transferred to the company owner. I came to believe these people build a great product and have the integrity to stand behind it. The one thing I which was different is the shelves fit a little loose. I drive a lot of Forest Service gravel roads. They’re bumpy, and I do everything within reason to eliminate rattles and squeaks. I remedied this with rubber pads wrapped around the shelf edges. So far so good, the unit is new. The opportunity for a follow up review after a few years of use would be good. Thx, I hope this was helpful."
