"Bought cooler/dry box 10 years ago for my work lunch box. I work for railroad and we live out of these things. Hinges finally broke and gave up. Metal is by far better and easy to install. These coolers are priced high but you throw this thing around as much as i do and you'll be impressed"
"I think I have one of the first Engle bait tanks in Texas. It has been used ALOT since 2010 or so. The plastic hinges finally gave way, and I did not want to throw it away. Ordered stainless replacments and now it is as good as new! We love Engle products!"
"The quality is good and the price is fair. My only complaint is why doesn’t the cooler already come equipped with these hinges. Add $8 to the price of the cooler and give a better product to your consumer out of the box. I put these on a brand new cooler when I shouldn’t have to."

Seams more of a money grab when the plastic ones break because you have so much invested in the cooler that it would be dumb not to replace the plastic hinges with the nicer metal ones that won’t break.
